Autumn Term

  • We worked on our basics of kickboxing today. We taught Jabs and cross punches with some hooks, and started with front kicks and the differnce between push and snap kicks.

  • We looked at the other side of martial arts today with the kids defending themselves.

We began with some sholder tap sparring. a drill where the students tap each other’s shoulders to improve their coordination and blocking techniques. This drill helps kids develop better awareness of their own movement and timing, as they practice reacting quickly to a partner's actions. By tapping each other's shoulders, they learn to position themselves correctly to block or evade incoming strikes, while also enhancing their ability to anticipate and read their opponent’s movements. This activity not only strengthens their reflexes but also fhelps balance, focus, and control, which are essential skills in kickboxing. Additionally, it builds confidence in a safe and controlled environment, allowing them to learn proper defensive techniques while encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship.

we tehn looked at two simple blocking techniques individually using paddles where we introduced the outerblock and upperblock techniques.

we finsihed the class with a quick self defence technique.
